Hardware Pipes (Rx)
A Rx Hardware Pipe provides a direct connection from
card to application for receiving SD, HD, 3G, or 4K video.
Each pipe uses a dedicated DMA controller to move video data from Ethernet port to system memory, with minimal latency and without CPU involvement. |

Software Pipes
A Software Pipe uses a shared DMA controller to route
data between the card and your application.
It is well-suited for audio and ancillary data, and can also be used for additional video streams at reduced performance, but still better than solutions using standard NICs. The number of software pipes is virtually unlimited, limited only by system resources and Ethernet bandwidth. |
