Block Diagram
The DTA-2110 is a 10 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe card optimized for streaming SMPTE 2110 and SMPTE 2022
signals. It has 5 transmit pipes, each with its own DMA controller and small FIFO buffer to handle bus
latencies. A scheduler ensures that all real-time data streams are transmitted with an exact transmit
time, based on the PTP timestamp assigned to the packets. A hardware checksum inserter saves CPU
resources by computing IP/UDP/TCP checksums.
Three pipes offer a direct interface for the user application to write high-bitrate video streams to,
while the fourth pipe provides N software pipes that allow the user application to write its A/V data
to, which are then multiplexed together before being DMA-ed to the hardware pipe. The fifth pipe
handles non-real-time network traffic from the standard network stack.
As input, the card features 4 receive pipes with a checksum checker and a DDR-based bulk FIFO for dealing with bus latencies and delays in the user application. Three pipes provide the most efficient path for receiving high-bitrate video frames directly to the user application, while the fourth pipe handles all other real-time streams and non-real-time network traffic. Real-time A/V streams are routed to a software pipe for user application reading, while normal network traffic is forwarded to the standard network stack.
